Lexi Minetree is revealing the sweet advice Reese Witherspoon gave her after she was cast as Elle Woods in the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle.
At the Amazon Upfront red carpet in New York City in the spring, Minetree, 24, told PEOPLE that Witherspoon, 49, had a few simple reminders for her when stepping into Woods' shoes — and, no, she didn't tell her to bend and snap.
"She told me to make sure to drink water, make sure to rest, to breathe and to take in every moment here because it's such a special opportunity," said Minetree.
When she first found out she got the part, "I think I had every thought known to mankind all simultaneously," Minetree recalled. "I'm still pinching myself that this is my life, and I just feel really grateful, honestly."
Witherspoon has even told her how much she sees herself in her.
"That means I'm going to age amazingly," Minetree said. "Reese is just such a good role model for people. I feel honored to be compared."

Minetree also teased that Elle — which will tell the story of Woods through her high school years — is full of vintage pieces that pay homage to Witherspoon's original Legally Blonde film.
"I think right now they have me in a little bit of pink, I'll tell you that much," she said. "But they've picked out amazing pieces. Every outfit the costume designer has chosen is true vintage, and it just is such a great homage to that time period. I can't wait for everyone to see it."
Minetree said getting to play an "optimist" like Woods has been "healthy for my psyche."
"I think I will go method for this role and just believe in myself and say, 'You know what? I'm bringing Lexi's take onto this role and following in the footsteps of what Reese has already created,'" she said. "She's such an amazing character, and I'm just putting my own little sprinkles of magic on it, for sure."
Elle, which will stream on Prime Video, was announced in 2024.
