Peyton Manning revealed the one bit of feedback he gave to actor Glen Powell for his role as a football player in Chad Powers

Manning revealed that he wasn't on set for the shots, but he and his brother Eli provided feedback so the scenes looked "real and authentic"

Both Peyton and Eli serve as executive producers on the Hulu series

Peyton Manning put his football expertise to good use as a producer on Chad Powers.

The 49-year-old retired quarterback and his brother Eli Manning serve as executive producers on the new Hulu series starring Glen Powell, which follows a former football player trying to prove himself on the field again.

Manning tells PEOPLE that while he and Eli, 44, weren't on set when many of the football scenes were filmed, the NFL star brothers were providing their feedback to make sure the on-field footage looked realistic.

"They filmed those sessions and they sent it to me and Eli, and we would just give kind of feedback because you want it to look real and authentic," he says.

Glen Powell in 'Chad Powers'

It was tricky for Manning to explain, but the biggest tip he gave to Powell, 37, regarding football was the way the actor positioned his hands. "When you take a snap from the center of the shotgun, you kind of hold your hands like you're gonna kind of catch a ball, and Glen had his hands in this position," Manning explains, noting, "I don't know how to describe it, almost like he was holding a a tray."

"And I'm like, 'We gotta fix those hands,' " Manning recalls. "I said because the first thing they're gonna see is his hands, and like once we get that, I think this thing's about to take off."

Reflecting on his input, Manning teases, "So yes, I definitely contributed as an executive producer in a major way."

The Chad Powers character was inspired by Eli's character of the same name in the 2022 ESPN docuseries, Eli's Places. The episode from the viral miniseries starred Eli, using professional hair and makeup artists to disguise him as Powers, trying out as a walk-on quarterback for Penn State.

During an appearance on The Eli Manning Show in May 2024, Eli joked about feeling a bit jealous to hand over the character to Powell.

"I don't know if I like you playing Chad Powers," Eli joked. "Like, I'm Chad Powers."

Powell replied, "Look, I'm not gonna try to outdo you, I'm really gonna try to honor your legacy, but this is what I do."
