Daisy Fuentes has some thoughts about the big changes at MTV.
In a recent catch-up with PEOPLE, the media personality, 58, commented on the news that MTV is bidding farewell to several of its international music channels at the end of 2025.
"I thought, while it's a bit sad, it's been a bit sad for a while. I think MTV had its time and history that time will never repeat, and it's time to change," Fuentes shares.
"We all change. We have to evolve. And I hope that there's another version of them, just like there's another version of us, us who were part of that we're no longer the same. Why should we expect them to be? The world has changed so much."
As for the future, she continues, "I'm curious to see its evolution. It could be great. I think change is good. I think it's time. It will always be part of our youth."

Of course, the former VJ is forever grateful for her time on the network, which she recalls as a " 'How was that my life?' moment."
"I knew no one in the entertainment industry. I don't know what it was in me that thought I had a chance in hell of becoming this worldwide girl on the hottest channel of the time, becoming a part of pop culture history. I think I wasn't aware of my limitations. I kind of just went for it."
The audition came to Fuentes when she least expected it, thanks to some people who knew her and looked out for her.
"It was a friend of a friend who received a tape of some of the weather that I had done on the Spanish channel that I was doing in Jersey, and I remember writing a note saying, 'I know this is in Spanish, but I do speak English. I love the channel. I live for music, and I would love the chance to audition.' "
She continued, "And I didn't hear anything for seven months. I thought they trashed the tape. And then about seven months later, I get a message on my voicemail at home, and it was this woman saying, 'I just received your tape doing auditions for MTV International, which is in Spanish, and I see that you speak Spanish. If you can come in for an audition tomorrow, it'll be our last slot.' "

Getting to the audition would be easier said than done for the up-and-comer.
"So I thought, 'Oh my God, I've got to go, come hell or high water. I've got to go. Well, there was a tremendous snow and sleet storm in New Jersey. I made it to the audition. I think it was like 45 minutes to an hour late. I was wearing a white leather outfit, a white leather minis skirt with a fringe leather jacket, and it was just rain and sleet and snow," she recalls.
"I was filthy by the time I got there. My train was late. I had to wait for a cab. Everybody's fighting for a cab. I don't even know how I made it. And the producer told me later, because we became friends, she said, I just thought, 'Who does this girl think she is showing up here an hour late to this audition looking like a hot mess?' " Fuentes laughs.
"I guess, again, not knowing my limitations, I was just very much myself. And that's kind of what did it just going forward," she continues. "I don't know, if that were today, I think I would be much more fearful. I don't know. I guess what's meant to be [will] be."
