Marion Ross was one of the most beloved TV moms of the 1970s. The actress played matriarch Marion Cunningham, aka Mrs. C, for 11 seasons on the ABC sitcom Happy Days. Her co-stars on the hit series included Tom Bosley, Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Don Most,Anson Williams, and Erin Moran. Ross was 45 years old when she started on the show in 1974.

On Oct. 28, 2025, Ross turned 97 years old, and fans were quick to offer her birthday greetings across social media.

"Happy 97th birthday to Emmy-nominated actress Marion Ross. Here's to more 'Happy Days!'" one fan wrote on X.

"Happy happy happy birthday to you, you're awesome, an inspiration to many gals in our sixties!!! God bless you as you continue celebrating many more birthdays," another wrote to Ross on Facebook.

"Mrs. C - almost making the C mark herself," another fan wrote of Ross as she nears closer to the century mark.

Ross previously told Remind magazine that she felt "very lucky" to live such a long life with a successful career. She also offered advice for others who want to live to be over 90. "Keep a positive attitude and enjoy every day!" she told the outlet in 2023.

In a video message posted by her son, actor Jim Meskimen, Ross shared her wish for her fans and friends. After admitting that she was "not much of a cook" or "much of a homemaker," she added, "But I just do whatever I want to do and I'm free, I'm very free. And I want you all to be free!"

Ross has often talked about her life as a star on Happy Days.

"I was (45) years old when that came into my life and that's a pretty remarkable thing to have happen to you … and it enabled me to go on with my career," she told The Palm Springs Desert Sunin 2018.

She also dished about playing on the Happy Days softball team in the 1970s and '80s. "We even went to the East German border and played softball with the third infantry," Ross recalled in a 2019 interview with the Los Angeles Beat. "We flew to Okinawa and played softball with the U.S. Marines. I couldn't believe it! And I was like 55 years old. I would say to my neighbors 'I've gotta play ball and get my mitt!' And so it was this colorful kind of life that I had."
