On the final day of the2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, the men's hockey gold medal game is finally here.
TheUnited States will be looking to double up on hockey gold medalsafter the women's teamtook gold with a 2-1 overtime win over Canadain a classic on Thursday. The men's tournament-favorite, Canada, however, will be trying to ensure that doesn't happen.
How did both teams get here?
Both the USA and Canada survived and advanced with overtime wins in their quarterfinal matchups. Top-seeded Canada found itselftrailing Czechia twice, but a goal from Nick Suzuki with 3:27 left in regulation equalized and forced OT. Mitch Marner scored the winning goal for the Canadians three-and-a-half minutes into sudden death.

Team USA's 1-0 lead over Sweden looked like it was going to be enough through the majority ofits quarterfinal game, but a last-minute goal by Mika Zibanejad pushed the Swedes into OT and put the Americans on their heels.Quinn Hughes emerged as the herofor the United States, scoring the winning goal four minutes into the three-on-three sudden death period.
In Friday's semifinals,Team USA beat Slovakia handily, 6-2. Canada, meanwhile,beat Finland 3-2, overcoming a 2-0 deficit.
Slovakia and Finland played in Saturday's bronze medal game.
