Julie Andrews is making sure her children's book readers can feel her Broadway roots.

The famed "Sound of Music" actress, 90, is reissuing her 2010 picture book, "The Great American Mousical," this time in full color. The book, one of several authored by the Oscar-winning star, features illustrations from Andrews' ex-husband Tony Walton, and is co-written by their daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton.

In a post to her Instagram, Andrews' team wrote: "Julie and Emma are so grateful to Abrams Kids for the invitation to update the text for a new generation of readers, and Tony Walton's charming illustrations are now realized in full color."

The book follows a troupe of theatrical mice as they deal with the disappearance of their show's star just before opening night. Andrews told People in a recent interview announcing the reissue that the book, meant for middle-grade students, was inspired by her time on Broadway.

"I was in 'Victor/Victoria' on Broadway and my hairdresser came in – darling man – and he said, 'There's been a mouse discovered in the hairdressing department,'" she told the outlet, adding that when she asked him to trap it humanely, he revealed there were "hundreds of mice beneath the stage."

"A light bulb went off in my head when he said, 'That mouse probably came up to see all the stars, you know.' I came back and told Emma, 'We've got to write this story of a troupe of mice who watch everything up on the big stage, and then develop it for their own pleasure,'" Andrews told People.

Largely regarded as one of the titans of the genre, Andrews told the outlet she hopes that the book, newly colorful and with text, will inspire young people to fall in love with Broadway.

"It is about theater and the passion that everybody feels for it, and the main theme is also, well, no matter how small you are, you can make a difference, which is what is mentioned at the end of the book, that something so small as a mouse could do something so monumental," she said. "We just had such a ball writing it.

"We hope that kids will come away curious about theater, and want to see a show, and want to go to their local theater, want to go to a musical, whatever it may be," she added.
