Derek Hough is standing behind Jan Ravnik.

During the Tuesday, Oct. 28 episode of Dancing With The Stars, Hough appeared to address the controversy surrounding former pro Mak Chmerkovskiy's comments about Ravnik and his qualifications for being a DWTS professional dancer.

"Jan, first of all, I want to tell you, my man, that you are doing a fantastic first season," Hough said. "Fantastic!"

Chmerkovskiy made the controversial comments about Ravnik and his lack of ballroom dancing experience on the Friday, Oct. 24 episode of The Penthouse with Peta podcast.

"Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars. There's zero foundation, technique, quality, understanding of the partnership," he said. "It is absurd. This is unreal — how blind we have to be to not say what's obviously there."

"It's not Jan's fault," he added. "He's doing what he was hired to do. I have zero against him whatsoever. [But Jen Affleck] has no partner. It's not his fault."

Chmerkovskiy has not publicly addressed the comments and subsequent backlash.

Ravnik and his celebrity partner, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jen Affleck, appeared to address the controversy via TikTok on Monday, Oct. 27.

The reality star posted a video of herself typing furiously on her phone while at rehearsal with her partner. Ravnik — who was suffering from the flu and wearing a mask in the clip — appeared to be lip-syncing to an audio.

"Take it down. Take it down. Take it down. We need it gone," the sound goes. "Take it down. That doesn't represent me or what we need to be doing."

Text over the video reads, "Me when anyone talks trash about Jan."

During Tuesday's "Halloween Night," Ravnik and Affleck performed a contemporary routine to Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do." The couple scored a 32/40 for the performance.

At the end of the live show, Ravnik and Affleck were eliminated from the competition.

Dancing with the Stars airs LIVE on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+ and streams next day on Hulu.
