Crooked House (2017)

Glenn Close as Lady Edith de Haviland in 'Crooked House'

Glenn Close as Lady Edith de Haviland in 'Crooked House'. Sony Pictures

There's nothing like a good Agatha Christie whodunit, and this adaptation has all the hallmarks of a Christie classic: a compelling murder mystery, a quirky cast of suspects, and a gorgeous location. *Crooked House* follows private investigator Charles Hayward (Max Irons) as he looks into the suspected murder of a wealthy patriarch. Visiting the family's monumental estate, he attempts to understand the complex dynamics at play and uncover the truth behind what happened. Bolstering the film are the performances by the ensemble, particularly Glenn Close as the embittered Lady Edith. —*Kevin Jacobsen*

Enola Holmes (2020)

Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes in 'Enola Holmes'

This engaging coming-of-age story stars Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, the younger sister of famed detective Sherlock (Henry Cavill). Raised to be independent and observant, the teenager is a misfit in traditional Victorian society. When her mother goes missing, Enola embarks on an off-the-books adventure to solve a mystery, help a runaway lord, and prove that she can be just as accomplished and exceptional as her brother.

EW's critic sang praises for the film, writing that "While the mystery might be elementary (my dear, notably absent, Watson), the storytelling is winkingly subversive, proclaiming that a new and welcome game is afoot." *—Danny Horn*

**EW grade:** B+

**Director:** Harry Bradbeer

**Cast:** Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Sam Claflin, Helena Bonham Carter

In this lively second outing, teenage sleuth Enola Holmes opens a detective agency but struggles to build a clientele in the shadow of her famous older brother Sherlock. When she's approached by a girl from a matchstick factory looking for her missing sister, Enola finds herself drawn into a complex puzzle involving blackmail, extortion, murder, and being mistaken for the guilty party. The fast-moving sequel is just as witty and entertaining as the original while deepening Enola's relationships with her supporting cast. *—D.H.*

Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, Madelyn Cline as Whiskey, Edward Norton as Miles Bron, Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, and Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay in 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery'. Netflix

Modern mystery auteur Rian Johnson has whodunit again, crafting a mind-tickling follow-up to his brilliant *Knives Out*. In *Glass Onion*, the unflappable detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) attends a murder mystery party hosted by tech exec Miles Bron (Edward Norton) on a private island in the Aegean Sea. As the party turns deadly, Bron's frenemies turn on each other.

EW's critic writes that Johnson "has no shortage of ammunition for his rat-a-tat takes on pop-culture ephemera and the navel-gazing delusions of wealth and fame," plus the satirical send-up has a satisfying mid-movie twist, leading to a surprising and raucous finale. *—D.H.*

Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie (2017)

Natasha Lyonne as Det. Fleur Scozzari and Jeff Garlin as Det. Gene Handsome in 'Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie'

Natasha Lyonne as Det. Fleur Scozzari and Jeff Garlin as Det. Gene Handsome in 'Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie'.

Aaron Epstein/Netflix/Everett

At the start of *Handsome*, an actor introduces himself to the audience, explaining that he plays the murderer in this movie. That's your cue that this comedy-mystery is more about the laughs than the chills. Jeff Garlin (*Curb Your Enthusiasm*) wrote, directed, and stars in this silly cop spoof, which also includes Natasha Lyonne, Amy Sedaris, and Steven Weber (as the murderer). When a babysitter is dismembered and arranged on a suburban lawn, Garlin's Detective Handsome leaps into action, questioning eccentrics and generally not making a lot of progress. *—D.H.*

In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)

Michael C. Hall as Holt in 'In the Shadow of the Moon'.

Sabrina Lantos/Netflix/Everett Collection

If you're in the mood for a genre mash-up, *In the Shadow of the Moon* adds a time-travel twist to the serial killer procedural. Following an impossible set of simultaneous murders, Philadelphia police officer Thomas Lockhart (Boyd Holbrook) chases a suspect (Cleopatra Coleman) into a subway station, where she reveals that she knows personal information about him. She's then hit by an incoming train, but nine years later, Lockhart's investigation into a set of copycat crimes leads him to the same woman, who hasn't aged. This intriguing puzzle-box plot is rewarding for viewers willing to leap into the unknown. *—D.H.*

Amy Ryan as Mari Gilbert (right) in 'Lost Girls'.

When a young sex worker goes missing on Long Island's South Shore, the police don't put much effort into finding her — but her mother, Mari (Amy Ryan), refuses to let the case go cold. Mari's tireless pursuit of the truth finally forces the authorities to act, leading to the discovery of four female bodies along the parkway. Based on the Gilgo Beach serial killings, *Lost Girls* demands attention for all victims. *—D.H.*

In this follow-up to the hit British TV series *Luther*, the eponymous police detective (Idris Elba) is in lock-up for bending the rules a bit too often. When a terrifying serial killer (Andy Serkis) that he couldn't catch taunts him with a recording of a grisly murder, the ex-cop has to break out of prison and bring the sadistic creep to justice. Longtime fans of the show will appreciate this faithful continuation, which pushes Luther to the edge of his abilities as he navigates London's underworld on the other side of the law. *—D.H.*

Murder Mystery (2019)

Jennifer Aniston as Audrey Spitz and Adam Sandler as Nick Spitz in 'Murder Mystery'

On a long-promised late honeymoon in Europe, police officer Nick (Adam Sandler) and hairdresser Audrey (Jennifer Aniston) strike up a friendship with a stylish nobleman (Luke Evans), who impulsively invites them to a party on his billionaire uncle's yacht. The couple meets a half-dozen colorful suspects before the mayhem begins, starting with the uncle's death by stabbing and later encompassing a shooting, a poisoning, and even a blow-dart killing purely for style points. As usual, Aniston and Sandler are immensely likable, blundering amiably through a choice selection of mystery clichés. *—D.H.*

Murder Mystery 2 (2023)

Returning for a second film, Nick and Audrey Spitz have started their own detective agency but can't attract any clients. The streetwise Maharajah (Adeel Akhtar) from the first movie invites the Spitzes to his wedding on a private island and, naturally, everything goes pear-shaped. The prince is kidnapped and held for ransom, and for some reason, everyone has to go to Paris for some pretty scenery to run around in. Once again, the featherweight plot is just an excuse to enjoy the lead actors' charisma and comic timing. *—D.H.*

Where to watch *Murder Mystery 2*: Netflix

**Cast:** Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Mark Strong, Adeel Akhtar

The Pale Blue Eye (2022)

Christian Bale as Augustus Landor in 'The Pale Blue Eye'

Christian Bale as Augustus Landor in 'The Pale Blue Eye'.

Scott Garfield/Netflix/Everett

When a student at West Point in the 1830s is found hanging from a tree with his heart cut out, the authorities call for investigator Augustus Landor (Christian Bale). Arriving on campus, Landor finds an unlikely partner in Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling), a young cadet with an uncanny understanding of the macabre.

The central victory of this period mystery is the winning performances, with EW's critic writing, "The movie is mostly a study in how good its two main actors can be: Melling's Poe, wearing his tell-tale heart on his sleeve, seems to melt something in Bale, whose dour detective becomes almost playful in his presence." *—D.H.*

Where to watch *The Pale Blue Eye*: Netflix

Reptile (2023)

Benicio Del Toro as Tom Nichols and Alicia Silverstone as Judy Nichols in 'Reptile'

Benicio Del Toro as Tom Nichols and Alicia Silverstone as Judy Nichols in 'Reptile'.

Daniel McFadden/Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection

Benicio Del Toro heads this slow-burn noir as police detective Tom Nichols, an experienced cop who's looking into the murder of a young realtor. Justin Timberlake plays the victim's boyfriend, and other suspects include an ex-husband, a vengeance-minded neighbor, and a shady real estate conglomerate. The somewhat overwrought soundtrack brings extra tension to what would otherwise be routine procedural scenes, pervading the film with an ever-present gloom. Then there's Alicia Silverstone as Tom's wife Judy, who lightens the tone with warmth; the movie could have used a lot more of her charm. *—D.H.*

Where to watch *Reptile*: Netflix

**Director:** Grant Singer

**Cast: **Benicio Del Toro, Justin Timberlake, Eric Bogosian, Alicia Silverstone

Shimmer Lake (2017)

Benjamin Walker as Sheriff Zeke Sikes in 'Shimmer Lake'

Benjamin Walker as Sheriff Zeke Sikes in 'Shimmer Lake'.

Netflix/Everett

A clever piece of clockwork plotting, *Shimmer Lake* unfolds in reverse chronological order, telling the story of a small-town bank robbery gone terribly wrong. Sheriff Zeke Sikes (Benjamin Walker) leads the investigation, which includes his twitchy brother Andy (Rainn Wilson) as a suspect. We follow the case backward from Friday to Tuesday, piecing together a complex, darkly comic misadventure involving a mixed bag of eccentric sleuths and clueless co-conspirators. It all makes sense once the final twist is revealed, but the film requires careful attention to follow its winding (or unwinding?) plot. *—D.H.*

Where to watch *Shimmer Lake*: Netflix

**Director:** Oren Uziel

**Cast:** Benjamin Walker, Rainn Wilson, Rob Corddry, Adam Pally, Ron Livingston

They Cloned Tyrone (2023)

John Boyega as Fontaine, Teyonah Parris as Yo-Yo, and Jamie Foxx as Slick Charles in 'They Cloned Tyrone'

John Boyega as Fontaine, Teyonah Parris as Yo-Yo, and Jamie Foxx as Slick Charles in 'They Cloned Tyrone'.

Parrish Lewis/Netflix

This wild mystery comedy combines the brilliant social satire of *Us *(2019) with the sci-fi leanings of *The Twilight Zone* with a healthy dose of Blaxploitation-style entertainment. John Boyega stars as Fontaine, a drug dealer who is killed by a rival during a transaction — only to wake up the next day as if nothing happened. After enlisting one of his customers (Jamie Foxx) and a sex worker (Teyonah Parris), they uncover a bizarre conspiracy involving — you guessed it — cloning technology in their local community. It's a bold swing, but one that certainly connects, particularly when you have Foxx delivering one of his most hilarious, scene-stealing performances. —*K.J.***

Where to watch *They Cloned Tyrone*: Netflix

**Director:** Juel Taylor

**Cast:** John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, Jamie Foxx

Wicked Little Letters (2024)

Olivia Colman as Edith Swan and Gemma Jones as Victoria Swan in 'Wicked Little Letters'

Olivia Colman as Edith Swan and Gemma Jones as Victoria Swan in 'Wicked Little Letters'.

Sony Pictures Classics

This British mystery comedy, based on true events, is as deliciously naughty as its title suggests. Olivia Colman stars as Edith Swan, a repressed, religious Englishwoman who lives with her parents in 1920s Britain. After receiving a series of profane letters in the mail, her family seeks answers and accuses their Irish neighbor — a single mother named Rose (Jessie Buckley) — causing a scandal around their seaside town of Littlehampton. Yes, it's comparatively low stakes compared to other films on this list, but it's good cheeky fun ideally watched on a lazy Sunday afternoon. —*K.J.***

Where to watch *Wicked Little Letters*: Netflix

**Director:** Thea Sharrock

**Cast:** Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Anjana Vasan, Joanna Scanlan, Gemma Jones, Malachi Kirby, Lolly Adefope, Eileen Atkins, Timothy Spall

The Woman in the Window (2021)

Amy Adams as Anna Fox in 'The Woman in the Window'

Amy Adams as Anna Fox in 'The Woman in the Window'.

Melinda Sue Gordon/Netflix

Anna (Amy Adams), an agoraphobic child psychologist, spends her days locked inside her home and gazing out the second-story window. She makes friends with Jane Russell (Jennifer Jason Leigh), who lives across the street, and soon after, she watches in horror as her neighbor is brutally stabbed. When Anna reports the crime, she's shocked to encounter a different woman claiming to be Jane Russell, and the woman's family insists the changeling is the real thing. Anna's struggle to hang on to her sanity is sometimes over the top, but patient viewers are rewarded with a powerful shock ending. *—D.H.*

Where to watch *The Woman in the Window*: Netflix

**Director:** Joe Wright

**Cast:** Amy Adams, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Fred Hechinger

The Wonder (2022)

Kila Lord Cassidy as Anna O'Donnell, Tom Burke as Will Byrne, and Florence Pugh as Lib Wright in 'The Wonder'

Kila Lord Cassidy as Anna O'Donnell, Tom Burke as Will Byrne, and Florence Pugh as Lib Wright in 'The Wonder'.

Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection

In a remote Irish village in 1862, 11-year-old Anna (Kíla Lord Cassidy) has survived without eating for four months, an apparently miraculous occurrence that divides the town. Thus, a nurse (Florence Pugh) is summoned from England to watch the girl and determine whether this is a sacred event or a hoax. Inspired by the Victorian phenomenon of "the fasting girls," this tense drama is anchored by Pugh's reliably dynamic performance, who EW's critic declared to be "pretty much perfectly cast, an actress with such a keen emotional presence that she tends to cut through pretense and triviality like a hot knife." *—D.H.*

Where to watch *The Wonder*: Netflix

**EW grade:** B

**Director:** Sebastián Lelio

**Cast:** Florence Pugh, Tom Burke, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Niamh Algar, Ciarán Hinds

Now You See Me: Now You Don't is just around the corner.

The Four Horsemen — played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco — will return to the big screen as the third film in the heist-thriller franchise, Now You See Me: Now You Don't, hits theaters in November 2025.

The first film premiered in 2013 and captivated audiences with its storytelling and big twists and turns. Following a group of illusionists, the crew uses their magical tricks to stage a series of heists and right some wrongs.

A follow-up film was released three years later in 2016, chronicling the Four Horsemen after they were exposed by a foe and discovered the true secrets behind a secret society called the Eye. Ahead of the third installment's release, Fisher, who sat out of the 2016 sequel, told PEOPLE that it was "such a joy" to reprise her role as Henley Reeves.

"Coming back felt a little like a family reunion — maybe a dysfunctional family," Fisher told PEOPLE in October 2025. "We already had this incredible shorthand, so slipping back into that dynamic was easy and really fun."

From the returning cast members to its release date, here's everything to know about Now You See Me: Now You Don't.

Original cast members Eisenberg, Harrelson, Fisher and Franco will reprise their roles as the Four Horsemen: Daniel Atlas, Merritt McKinney, Henley Reeves and Jack Wilder, respectively.

Fisher did not reprise her original role in the 2016 sequel; instead, Lizzy Caplan's character joined the Four Horsemen group in her place. The Mean Girls alum will also reprise her role as Lula May in the third film. Morgan Freeman is also set to return.

Mark Ruffalo, who starred as Dylan Rhodes in the first two films, was not seen in the trailer, though Variety reported in April 2025 that he would be returning to the franchise in the third film.

Who is joining the cast of Now You See Me: Now You Don't?

Rosamund Pike in "Now You See Me: Now You Don't"

The film will also feature new faces, including Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith and Dominic Sessa.

Rosamund Pike is also joining the cast in a villainous role, portraying the wealthy leader of the Vanderberg crime family.

Who is directing Now You See Me: Now You Don't?

Director Ruben Fleischer

Originally, the film was going to be helmed by Jon M. Chu, who directed the second film. However, in 2022, he was replaced by Ruben Fleischer.

What is Now You See Me: Now You Don't about?

Katalin Vermes/Lionsgate

Dominic Sessa, Morgan Freeman and Isla Fisher

According to a synopsis, "The Four Horsemen are back — to unite with a new generation of illusionists (Smith, Sessa, Greenblatt) for their most global, high-stakes magical adventure yet. Their mission: Expose the corruption of Veronika Vanderberg (Pike), a powerful diamond heiress with ties to arms dealers, traffickers and warlords."

The synopsis continues, "Aided by the legendary Thaddeus (Freeman), the two generations of magicians must overcome their differences to try and defeat their cunning and dangerous adversary, in this magic-fueled heist filled with the franchise's signature twists, turns and thrilling reveals — along with some of the most thrilling illusions ever captured on film."

Is there a trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don't?

The first trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don't arrived in April 2025, giving fans a glimpse at the Four Horsemen in action again.

In the teaser, Danny enlists the help of younger illusionists in his mission to steal the Heart Diamond from a crime family who sells their jewels to traffickers and warlords to launder their money. Though Danny says the other Horsemen are "dead" to him at the beginning of the trailer, it doesn't take long before they show up for the heist.

Another trailer dropped Sept. 18, teasing many twists.

When did the cast film Now You See Me: Now You Don't?

Katalin Vermes/Lionsgate

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas quarterback Arch Manning is available to play for the No. 20 Longhorns on Saturday against No. 9 Vanderbilt after clearing concussion protocol.

Manning was not listed on Texas' injury report filed Friday night with the Southeastern Conference. Manning had been listed as questionable on Wednesday, but coach Steve Sarkisian also said his quarterback was practicing and making "good progress" during the week.

Manning was injured in Texas' 45-38 overtime win over Mississippi State when he led a 17-point fourth-quarter rally. Matthew Caldwell entered the game in overtime and threw the winning touchdown pass.

Manning has passed for 1,795 yards and 15 touchdowns. A preseason favorite for the Heisman Trophy, Manning struggled for much of the early season but played his best game against Mississippi State with 346 yards passing and three touchdowns. He passed for 169 yards in the final quarter.

67

There will be a Game 7 of the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, thanks to an ending that could be described as wild by one side and a gut punch by the other.

Down 3-1 going into the ninth inning of Game 6, the Blue Jays got two runners in scoring position with no outs courtesy of a double from Addison Barger, which itself was a curious moment, as Dodgers center fielder Justin Dean successfully had play stopped when the ball got pinned under the outfield wall.

With runners on second and third, the Dodgers pulled rookie closer Roki Sasaki and brought in Tyler Glasnow, a candidate to start the winner-take-all game Saturday. He got one out via an Ernie Clement pop-up and a second out on a fly ball from Andrés Giménez.

Then he got the third out when left-fielder Kiké Hernández caught Barger too far from second base, with Miguel Rojas getting the ball just in time and tumbling over on contact. Ballgame.

The Rogers Centre crowd, ready to celebrate a 1993 Joe Carter redux, was left stunned by a double play to end the game with a Dodgers victory.

Hernández has become a cult hero for Dodgers fans over the past decade with his clutch postseason hitting, defensive versatility and clubhouse presence, but he never had a bigger play than that one.

"I was playing a little more shallow than the card wanted me to," Hernández told Fox Sports after the game. "Given the situation, really fast guy at second base, I was like, 'You know what? I'm going to play really, really shallow, and if he hits it over my head, credit to him.'

"Somehow I was able to hear that the bat broke, even with that crowd. The crazy thing is I had no idea where the ball was 'cause it was in the lights the whole time. Given the situation of the game, World Series on the line, I was like, 'It's going to hit me in the face, but I'm not stopping. I'm not pulling up.'"

[Get more L.A. news: Dodgers team feed]

The play was only possible due to some inexcusable baserunning by Barger, who was almost halfway to third as Hernández prepared to catch a very catchable fly ball.

This is where Barger was when Kike settled under that ball. Horrific out to take away the game from George Springer. Inexcusable pic.twitter.com/cRdjCzTFPe

— VladdyMuse (@VladdyMuse) November 1, 2025

The 25-year-old Barger has been an unlikely postseason hero for the Blue Jays, entering Friday slashing .346/.414/.558 and scoring Toronto's only run in Game 6 after hitting a leadoff double in the third, but he's going to want that one back. All of Toronto is going to want that one back.

Game 7 will be Max Scherzer vs. Shohei Ohtani

The Blue Jays were hoping it wouldn't come to this, but their plan for Game 7 is relatively simple. Veteran Max Scherzer will get the start, with another former Cy Young winner in Shane Bieber likely behind him, and then the bullpen.

As for the Dodgers, well, don't expect anyone to throw more than a few innings. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts declined to name a Game 7 starter after the game but acknowledged that Shohei Ohtani is a "possibility" to start on three days' rest. That would make sense, as that's the only way Ohtani can stay in the game after pitching without playing the field.

Not long after, The Athletic reported Ohtani will indeed get the start, meaning baseball's biggest player is about to take its biggest possible stage.

Glasnow said after the game that he'll be available as well. It helps that he threw only three pitches to get three outs, another costly component of that ninth-inning disaster for the Jays. You might figure Dodgers Game 5 starter Blake Snell could be available for an inning or two on two days' rest as well.

And even Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who threw 96 pitches in his Game 6 start, said he'd be ready to go in if asked, just like he was ready to enter the 18-inning Game 3 in relief. Roberts threw cold water on that idea a few minutes later but said every other pitcher on the roster will be available. Buckle up.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Mookie Betts got the Dodgers there

To win Game 6, the Dodgers rode another gem from Yamamoto. He didn't throw a complete game like in his previous two starts, but it was six innings of one-run ball, with six strikeouts against a Blue Jays lineup that has tagged nearly every Dodgers pitcher except him this postseason.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets through the 6th with a big strikeout! pic.twitter.com/O0k8Ra5i0d

— MLB (@MLB) November 1, 2025

Nearly two years ago, the Dodgers gave Yamamoto $325 million before his first MLB pitch. It was an enormous bet on his deep arsenal of pitches and arguably the best Japanese pitching career ever translating into an MLB ace.

He has now made three World Series starts and holds a 1.27 ERA, with 18 strikeouts and 10 hits allowed in 21 1/3 innings. He will get Cy Young votes this season. It's safe to say Yamamoto has lived up to the contract and then some.

"Every game I go out and pitch because I always feel that I don't want to lose," Yamamoto said postgame through an interpreter. "We can't afford to lose."

The Blue Jays sent out Kevin Gausman, who was once again dominant — with one exception. The right-hander retired his first seven batters and his final 10 batters, but in between came a three-run rally in the third inning.

Will Smith got the Dodgers' first run with an RBI double, but the bigger hit belonged to Mookie Betts. The Dodgers' star shortstop has struggled so much this postseason that he was moved down in the order twice in two games (second to third for Game 5, third to clean-up for Game 6).

Facing Gausman with the bases loaded and two outs, Betts knocked a low line drive into left field to score two runs.

That was the first time this series that the Dodgers scored more than two runs in an inning.

— Yahoo Sports (@YahooSports) November 1, 2025

Yamamoto made sure it counted with his outing, and Justin Wrobleski, Sasaki and Glasnow took it home with three combined scoreless innings. With timely hits and a complete performance by the pitching staff (with a couple of big breaks), it was the kind of win the Dodgers hadn't had for this entire Fall Classic.

And now we get Game 7. Both teams have multiple starting pitchers in reserve and will do everything they can to retain the advantage. The 2025 MLB season will come down to Saturday, and the result will either be the Blue Jays' first title in 32 years or the Dodgers' first title in 12 months.

Glasnow gets Clement to pop up, and then Gimenez flies out and into a stunning double play.

Hernandez catches the fly ball in left and immediately throws to Miguel Rojas at second, and the ball beats a sliding Addison Barger to the plate for out No. 3.

That's a sudden end to the Jays' rally and this Game 6. And it's the first save of Glasnow's career.

We will have Game 7 tomorrow.

Sat, November 1, 2025 at 12:12 PM GMT+9Jake MintzWild start to the bottom of the ninth

Wild stuff here in the ninth. Addison Barger drove one to the base of the wall off Roki Sasaki, and the ball got stuck between the fence and the ground. With the ball lodged, substitute center fielder Justin Dean threw his arms in the air.

Barger ran around the bases and touched home, sending Rogers Centre into pandemonium, but after review, the play was ruled a ground-rule double. That's the right call. Whether the ball was retrievable — it probably was — isn't really the point. The umpire threw his hands in the air to signify a ground-rule double, which caused Dean to not go get the ball.

Now Glasnow is in to pitch with runners on second and third and nobody down. Tense times here north of the border in the ninth inning.

- Sat, November 1, 2025 at 12:08 PM GMT+9

Barger blasts a double deep to center field, and it gets wedged between the wall and the warning track. Both runners flew around to home, but they'll be sent back to second and third on a ground-rule double.

Still nobody out, and now Clement is coming to the plate as the winning run.

That does it for Sasaki. Tyler Glasnow is coming in for the Dodgers.

Sasaki is back on the mound for the bottom of the ninth.

And he begins by hitting Kirk with a pitch. Jays have a baserunner.

Edman grounds out. That's a 1-2-3 inning for Bassitt, and the Jays are up to bat for the last time.

They need two runs to tie it. The Dodgers are three outs away from forcing Game 7.

Kiké Hernandez also goes down swinging. That's two in the top of the ninth.

Daulton Varsho grounds out to end the inning and keep the Dodgers up two. However, with Sasaki at 23 pitches, the Dodgers might need to turn to someone else for the ninth.

The final game of the 2025 MLB season will occur Saturday night with Game 7 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

We need one more game after the Dodgers won Game 6 on Friday 3-1 at Rogers Centre in Toronto. It will be the 41st World Series Game 7 in MLB history and first since 2019 when the Washington Nationals beat the Houston Astros.

It will be a rare moment in baseball history and also one that see very sought-after tickets, especially for those in Toronto who are hoping the Blue Jays take home their first title since Joe Carter's home run gave the franchise back-to-back championships in 1993.

According to SeatGeek, MLB's official ticketing partner, it will cost you in order to get in the building. As of Saturday morning, the cheapest resale price for a single ticket is $1,031 that doesn't even get you an actual seat, only standing room only in centerfield.

An actual seat will only cost you a few hundred more as a cheap spot on the third base side of Rogers Centre is $1,303.

If you wanted more than a seat inside the stadium, maybe say an entire space to yourself that isn't a suite, a room inside the centerfield hotel could be yours and run you a little over $8,700 USD on Saturday night.

It's a good view, as longtime NBA center Robin Lopez showed off during the ALCS when the Blue Jays hosted the Seattle Mariners.

— Robin Lopez (@rolopez42) October 20, 2025

There are 348 rooms at the Toronto Marriott City Centre, but only 55 of them have an unobstructed view of the field. And the best part is no ticket is needed as long as you've secured a reservation.

It will be all hands on deck for both the Blue Jays and Dodgers in Game 7. There is no tomorrow for either team and everyone will be available to make an impact and help bring home a World Series title. Rogers Centre will be sold out with tens of thousands of fans who paid a pretty penny in hopes of seeing history.

WASHINGTON – Five days after President Donald Trump pardoned the founder of Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange the company helped boost Trump's fortunes by promoting his family's own crypto product, a digital coin known as USD1.

"Deposits for $USD1 are now open on @BinanceUS!" the firm's U.S. subsidiary said in an Oct. 28 post on X, in reference to the Trump-affiliated World Liberty Financial cryptocurrency.

Binance also posted promotions saying it would now accept Trump's separate World Liberty Financial token on its U.S.-based site. Both USD1 and $WLFI were already available on Binance's international platform, which is not available in the United States. Making both tokens more easily accessible for American investors is likely to increase their value by enlarging the pool of potential buyers.

The demolition is part of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to build a multimillion-dollar ballroom on the eastern side of the White House.

Trump and his three sons launched World Liberty Financial with Trump's diplomatic envoy Steve Witkoff and his sons Zach and Alex in September 2024, and the firm soared in visibility and profit once Trump was elected in November 2024 and began deregulating the crypto industry.

A stablecoin like USD1 is a cryptocurrency whose value is pegged to another asset, in this case the U.S. dollar. Trump's $WLFI token has no inherent value on its own, and its worth is based on whatever his supporters and investors spend on it. Binance's Oct. 28 announcement noted that trading would begin Oct 29, giving USD1 its official seal of approval as "a U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin … fully backed by regulated reserves including U.S. Treasuries."

Binance's founder, Chinese-born Canadian tech tycoon Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, Zhao pleaded guilty to money-laundering in 2023 and served four months in federal prison before being pardoned by Trump on Oct. 23.

Binance does more than host and promote World Liberty Financial: As Zhao was seeking a pardon earlier this year, Binance asked an Abu Dhabi government-backed investment fund, MGX, to use Trump's USD1 coin when investing $2 billion in Binance, the Wall Street Journal recently reported.

More: How much money did Trump make in first 100 days? Crypto deals raise questions

A Hong Kong cryptocurrency company uses the image of President Donald Trump in an advertisement on March 12, 2025. Trump calls himself the first "Crypto President."

By steering the $2 billion transaction through World Liberty − a fledgling startup run by Trump family members with no crypto experience − the deal effectively increased demand for the family's cryptocurrency, generating fresh revenue from interest on the growing reserves that back it.

"The opportunity for corruption is not hypothetical. Trump has already given us a staggering example," the top Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, said in a May 5 Senate floor speech. MGX's use of Trump's USD1 stablecoin to finance its $2 billion investment in Binance, she said, is "essentially giving Trump a cut of the deal."

'Persecuted by the Biden administration'

Binance agreed to pay over $4 billion in 2023, to settle a yearslong investigation by the Justice Department and U.S. financial regulators. And it agreed to plug gaps in its financial protocols that prosecutors said had allowed criminals and terrorist groups like Hamas, Al Qaeda and the Islamic State to move illicit money on Binance's crypto platform.

"Binance became the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange in part because of the crimes it committed – now it is paying one of the largest corporate penalties in U.S. history," then-Attorney General Merrick Garland said.

The White House and Trump himself have parried questions about the ethics of Zhao's pardon, which allows the crypto mogul to return to the business he helped found in 2017. They say it's just Trump making good on his campaign promise to relax overly strict Biden-era regulations that crypto executives opposed.

At an Oct. 23 White House event, Trump told reporters he pardoned Zhao "at the request of a lot of good people" who said the financier "was persecuted by the Biden administration" and that "what he did is not even a crime."

"The Biden administration's war on crypto is over," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added in a statement.

Binance did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Zhao's pardon and its promotion of the Trump coins days later.

Trump Organization executive vice-president Eric Trump (R) and World Liberty Financial co-founder Zach Witkoff participate in a session during the Token 2049 crypto conference in Dubai on May 1, 2025.

But in a X post in response to criticism of the sequence of events by Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., it said, "Dear Senator, We conduct comprehensive due diligence and legal review before listing any asset on @BinanceUS, whether it's a stablecoin, a new ecosystem project, or a meme token."

Binance said both of the Trump coins, USD1 and $WLFI, are already listed on more than 20 other major crypto exchanges, which are used to buy, sell, store and use cryptocurrencies. "To be clear, this was a business decision on the part of @BinanceUS and nothing more," the company said. "It's unfortunate that even routine business decisions are now unfairly politicized by our elected officials."

The White House also denied any quid pro quo.

In an Oct. 30 statement to USA TODAY, Leavitt said: "The media's continued attempts to fabricate conflicts of interest are irresponsible and reinforce the public's distrust in what they read. Neither the President nor his family have ever engaged, or will ever engage, in conflicts of interest."

Trump initially 'not a fan' of cryptocurrency

When a reporter pressed Trump for answers about why he pardoned Zhao and whether it had to do with his family's crypto investments at the Oct. 23 White House event, he shot back, "You don't know much about crypto. You know nothing about nothing."

Trump, for his part, has become a cryptocurrency enthusiast since saying in July 2019 that he was "not a fan of Bitcoin" and that crypto was used to facilitate crime and was "not money."

Donald Trump Jr. (R), Eric Trump (L), and Zach Witkoff (C), Co-Founder and CEO of World Liberty Financial, react outside the Nasdaq exchange building after ringing the opening trading bell, in New York City, Aug. 13, 2025.

Since then, he and his family have made as much as $5 billion in paper gains from their various cryptocurrency holdings, including $864 million in reported actual cash profits in the first six months of this year alone.

They've launched their own companies and coins. And they've developed ties to industry leaders here and overseas, obtaining investments and donations while granting access to Trump. On May 22, Trump dined with 220 investors who plowed a combined $148 million into his crypto venture, inviting a torrent of criticism about the ethical implications.

By that month, World Liberty had already raised more than $500 million from selling a separate digital token.

The top bidder for a seat at that dinner and a separate VIP meet-and-greet was Justin Sun, a Hong Kong crypto entrepreneur who pumped $75 million into World Liberty Financial soon after it launched. Sun, who reportedly had avoided setting foot on U.S. soil for fear of being arrested, had been facing civil fraud charges under the Biden administration. But Trump's Securities and Exchange Commission stayed the case against him in February.

Another so-called "crypto bro" that Trump pardoned was Ross Ulbricht, who was sentenced in 2015 to life in prison for founding and operating what the U.S. government said was "the most sophisticated and extensive criminal marketplace on the Internet," which used bitcoin for transactions, which aided in protecting user identities.

'A full time, 24/7 corruption machine'

Democrats and even one Republican have criticized the Zhao pardon as especially inappropriate given the business links between Binance and the Trump family's crypto interests.

"I don't like it," retiring Republican Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina said about the pardon, saying it sends "a bad signal."

"He was convicted," Tillis told reporters on Oct. 23. "He's not innocent."

More: Trump's crypto dinner: Black ties, a Chinese billionaire and ethics questions

Democrats suggest the pardon could undermine a fraught effort on Capitol Hill to overhaul crypto regulations, which requires bipartisan support.

Murphy, the Democratic senator, posted on X that Binance began promoting Trump's USD1 crypto coin "one week after Trump pardoned Binance's owner (for a stunning array of crimes related to terrorist and sex predator financing)."

"The White House," Murphy added, "is a full time, 24/7 corruption machine."

The largest US crypto firm also paying Trump lots of money

Binance isn't the only crypto firm showering money on Trump in the hopes of preferential treatment.

Earlier this year, Trump's SEC dropped a lawsuit against Coinbase, the largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange for buying, selling, storing and using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Trump's USD1 stablecoin. That happened soon after the company gave $1 million to Trump's inauguration.

Coinbase has also reportedly confirmed that it is one of many crypto firms funding the new $300 million ballroom that Trump tore down the White House's East Wing to build.

More: How much money did Trump make in first 100 days? Crypto deals raise questions

Coinbase is facing a separate SEC investigation started under former President Joe Biden, and is now seeking SEC approval to offer blockchain-based stocks.

Trump crypto ventures 'a whopping success'

Since Trump's election last November, his sons Don Jr. and Eric have embarked on a globetrotting investment roadshow to drum up more crypto investment deals that critics say pose conflicts of interest for the president and national security threats.

"The Trump brothers' efforts have been a whopping success," Reuters said in an Oct. 28 special report, "Inside the Trump family's global crypto cash machine."

In the first half of 2025, the Trump Organization's income soared 17-fold to $864 million from $51 million a year earlier, according to Reuters calculations, which it said were based on the president's official disclosures, property records, financial records released in court cases, crypto trade information and other sources.

"These people are not pouring money into coffers of the Trump family business because of the brothers' acumen," Kathleen Clark, a law professor at Washington University, told Reuters. "They are doing it because they want freedom from legal constraints and impunity that only the president can deliver."

United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS) shares closed Friday at $96.42, but the real story isn't the recovery. It's the stunning collapse in retail investor sentiment following the company's earnings beat and announcement of 48,000 job cuts.

Social sentiment on UPS has fallen by more than half in two weeks, with Reddit discussions pivoting sharply from cautious optimism to outright skepticism about the quality of the company's results.

The Earnings Beat That Backfired

UPS delivered impressive headline numbers on October 28. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.74 beat estimates of $1.31 by 33 percent. Revenue of $21.40 billion exceeded expectations of $21.04 billion. Operating profit hit $1.80 billion, adjusted. By any traditional measure, the company crushed expectations. Yet within hours, that narrative evaporated.

The problem wasn't the earnings; it was the job cuts. The company announced it would eliminate 48,000 positions in management and operations. This represents roughly 6.5% of its total workforce. CEO Carol Tomé framed it as "executing the most significant strategic shift in our company's history," but retail investors read it differently. They saw cost-cutting masquerading as operational excellence. They saw a company contracting, not growing.

The underlying fundamentals reinforced those concerns. UPS reported earnings down 14.1% and year-over-year and revenue down 3.7%. The U.S. domestic segment, the company's core business, declined 2.6% on lower volume. Supply Chain Solutions revenue plummeted 22.1% due to divestitures. This wasn't a company firing on all cylinders. This was a company under pressure, cutting aggressively to defend margins.

Reddit Sentiment Crashes on Job Cuts Reality

Sentiment tracking shows the dramatic shift. Two weeks ago UPS was riding high with a sentiment of 75/100. It fell a little, then popped back to 70 heading into earnings.

But then the bottom fell out as investors digested the news, getting as low as 24/100. They have since settled back to 34/100 today, but that's still down 60% from just two weeks ago.

A post on r/stocks titled "UPS Cuts 48,000 Jobs in Management and Operations" accumulated over 2,300 upvotes, dominating discussions across Reddit. The thread generated sustained engagement and consistently negative commentary. Retail investors weren't celebrating the earnings beat. They were questioning what it meant that UPS needed to slash nearly 50,000 jobs to achieve it. Here's what drove the pessimism:

Revenue is contracting year-over-year, signaling weakening demand and a battered US consumer

Amazon's volume with UPS fell 21.2%

The company's operating margin stands at just 8.64 percent, compressed by pricing pressure

These job cuts feel like retrenchment, not offense

Stock Gives Back Gains as Institutional Reality Sets In

The disconnect between the earnings beat and investor reaction reveals something crucial. When a company beats estimates primarily through cost-cutting rather than revenue growth, markets eventually recognize it as a sign of structural weakness, not operational excellence. UPS delivered the numbers, but retail investors on Reddit saw the subtext. The company is contracting, not expanding. And no earnings beat changes that narrative.
