In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 7 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
Athlon Sports' Luke Easterling recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with star quarterback Austin Simmons. The Missouri passer has played extremely well in 2026, and the idea of him being available at 30 could be an insane one if he keeps on his upward trajectory.
He explains the pick, writing, "I doubt Kevin O'Connell is in a hurry to spend another first-round pick on a quarterback, but if the fit is right, the Vikings might still take that swing. Simmons has launched himself into the first-round conversation with a stellar first half of the season, displaying the arm talent and intangibles to be a successful starter at the next level. O'Connell is one of the league's best offensive minds, and Simmons could raise the ceiling of this offense for years to come."
The Vikings need a shot in the arm at the quarterback position, and Simmons could be in. He pushes the ball downfield, has good zip, and is accurate when on the run or being mobile in the pocket. A very fun addition to the Vikings in this mock draft.
