"I've said so much on him," Reid told reporters after the Chiefs fell to the Seattle Seahawks on "Sunday Night Football."
Chiefs Vice President of Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder spoke to the media Oct. 22, and Reid referred to Burkholder's comments, in which he provided a timeline for the bulging, herniated disc that has kept Simmons off the field. The team placed Simmons, the 32nd overall pick in the 2025 draft, on injured reserve again and he will not return until Nov. 22 against the Arizona Cardinals at the earliest.
"Rick's talked about him, this and that. Things happen. That's no reason he's been put on IR," Reid said when asked directly about the report that said Simmons was asked to leave a meeting.
"He's got a bad back," Reid said. "He's got to get that worked out. But that's the main thing. I'll leave it at that."

Reid asked him to put his feet down, per the report, and Simmons replied that he had to sit in that manner because of back discomfort. Reid then told Simmons to seek treatment if he was in pain, according to witnesses cited in the NFL Network report, and when Simmons protested more, Mahomes also spoke up.
Burkholder previously told reporters that Simmons attempted to rehab the disk issue in his lumbar spine – which caused the calf discomfort he felt during camp – before a lack of progress encouraged the medical team to shut him down again.
